Baseball roundup: Mid-Prairie drops to No. 8 with back-to-back losses

Mid-Prairie was the only area baseball team in action with weekend. The Golden Hawks played in the North Scott Tournament on Saturday. Mid-Prairie had two hard fought games, but by the end of the day had suffered a pair of losses.
Last week, the Golden Hawks had climbed as high as No. 4 in Class 2A, but with the two losses they now sit at No. 8.
No. 4 (4A) Cedar Falls 18, No. 4 (2A) Mid-Prairie 8
No. 4 Mid-Prairie had a tough time with the No. 4 ranked (Class 4A) Cedar Falls Tigers over the weekend in the North Scott Tournament.
The Golden Hawks had 10 hits in the game, but the Tigers had the bats going themselves with 14.
Dylan Henry had two hits with three RBIs. Brock Harland and Tyler Helmuth had two hits and one RBI each. Bowen Burmeister, Collin Miller, Brady Weber and Will Cavanagh all finished with one hit. Burmeister and Joe Hall tallied one RBI as well.
Cain Brown, Landry Gingerich, Burmeister, Camron Pickard and Hall all threw from the hill on Saturday.
Burlington Notre Dame 4, Mid-Prairie 3
Notre Dame led 4-0 after five innings on Saturday. The Golden Hawks got three runs back in the sixth, but it wasn’t enough to pull out a win.
Camron Pickard and Bowen Burmeister each had a hit and an RBI in the loss. Will Cavanagh, Joe Hall and Brady Weber all had one hit each.
Brock Harland, Dylan Henry and Blake Swart pitched for the Golden Hawks.
