Mid-Prairie 9, West Branch 2
Mid-Prairie pulled away from West Branch on Monday night after leading by just one after three innings.
The Golden Hawks nearly shut the Bears out giving up just two runs in the final inning of the night. Prior to that, Mid-Prairie scored six runs between the fourth and fifth innings and added two more in the top half of the seventh.
Landry Gingerich led Mid-Prairie with three hits and three RBIs in the win. Brooks Weber threw for five innings and struck out five.
Mid-Prairie 19, West Branch 1
Mid-Prairie had no problem with West Branch in game two on Monday night.
The Golden Hawks scored all 19 runs in the first three innings to end it early.
Jason Heitman finished with three hits, three runs and two RBIs. Brady Weber had one hit, two runs, five RBIs and one home run. Weber also pitched four innings and had 10 strikeouts.
Hillcrest Academy 15, Danville 0
Hillcrest Academy had a fantastic showing against Danville on Monday. The Ravens finished the game in five innings after holding the Bears scoreless.
The Ravens scored six runs in the first two innings and added seven more in the fourth, followed by two in the fifth to seal it.
Mason Bender finished with two hits, one run, one RBI and two stolen bases in the win. Lincoln Miller ended with two hits, one run, two RBIs and one stolen base.
Phoenix Anderson pitched all five innings and tallied seven strikeouts.
Van Buren County 11, Winfield-Mt. Union 0
Van Buren County closed out Winfield-Mt. Union in five innings on Monday evening.
The Warriors led 6-0 after the first two innings and the Wolves could never get into it. VBC finished with five runs in the fourth to put a nail in it.
Will Cocherell had two hits and four RBIs for VBC. Aidan McEntee, Kinnick Millard and Isaiah Meek all had two hits as well. Cocherell also threw all five innings with nine strikeouts.
For WMU, Kohlby Newsom had two hits. Riley Kaalberg finished with one hit as well.
New London 2, Pekin 1
New London gave up one run in the top of the first inning, but would never let Pekin score again in a narrow win.
It took the Tigers four innings to find their first run of the game and six to put the winning run on the board.
Tate Welcher and Gavin Strawhacker both finished with an RBI for New London. Welcher and Gavin Menke-Bailey had two hits each.
Kye Reighard and Owen Nehring gave up six hits, one run (one earned), two walks with five strikeouts on the hill combined.
For Pekin, Henry Adam had two hits.
Chariton 5, Cardinal 4
Cardinal nearly made a late comeback against Chariton on Monday.
The Chargers held a 4-0 lead after five innings, but the Comets answered back with four runs of their own between the sixth and seventh.
Cardinal could never get another run and Chariton walked it off in the bottom of the ninth.
For Cardinal, Kazin Miller had two hits and one run. Cody Birlson ended with two hits, one run and two RBIs.
