Baseball season underway for area teams
It?s been a busy week and a half for area baseball teams and many of them have been performing well. Here is a recap of area teams and how they are doing so far this season.

It?s been a busy week and a half for area baseball teams and many of them have been performing well. Here is a recap of area teams and how they are doing so far this season.
For Mid-Prairie, they have a 4-0 record. They won over Keota Tuesday, May 23, 13-1. The Golden Hawks played in a doubleheader against West Liberty Thursday, May 25, where Mid-Prairie won the first game 10-0 and had a 15-2 at the end of the second game.
They won their fourth-straight game Tuesday, May 30, 9-5 in eight innings. Mid-Prairie next plays against Monticello tonight, starting at 7:30 p.m.
Highland has started off the year with a 5-1 record. They beat Van Buren Community 13-0 in six innings of play Monday, May 22.
They went on to win over Mediapolis the next day 2-0. They defeated Burlington Notre Dame 3-0 Thursday, May 25.
In their game against West Liberty Friday, May 26, the Huskies won 13-3. They won their game at Lone Tree Tuesday, May 30, 6-2.
The boys played against Regina Wednesday, May 31, where they lost with a final score of 6-12. The Huskies are host to Holy Trinity Catholic tonight starting at 7 p.m.
Iowa Mennonite?s season is off to a 1-2 start. They lost to Mediapolis Thursday, May 25, 2-5 and defeated Holy Trinity Catholic 11-3 Tuesday, May 30. Last night, they fell to Burlington Notre Dame by a final score of 1-12.
Keota has started off their season with a 3-2 record. They beat Iowa Valley Monday, May 22, by an 8-4 score. They lost to Mid-Prairie Tuesday, May 23, by a 1-13 score.
The Eagles won at Belle Plaine Wednesday, May 24, by an 11-7 score.
The team won over Tri-County 10-8 Friday, May 26. In their game at Sigourney last night, they lost by a final score of 6-16.
Keota next plays at home against English Valleys Friday, June 2, starting at 6 p.m.
Columbus has started off the year with a 0-4 record. They lost 0-24 to West Burlington Monday, May 22. The Wildcats lost 3-16 to Pekin Tuesday, May 23.
They were handed a 4-19 loss Thursday, May 25, by Sigourney and was shut out 0-10 by New London Tuesday, May 30.
They next take to the field Thursday, June 1, against Louisa-Muscatine starting at 7 p.m.
