Highland drops second conference tilt

RIVERSIDE  ? The Highland girls? basketball team was only able to win the fourth quarter in a 46-41 loss to Winfield-Mt. Union, Monday.

?We weren?t into the game at all,? said head coach Jody Fink. ?We lacked intensity and focus most of the night. They took advantage of that.?

Freshman Kelsey Hora led her team in scoring with 14 points. She made 6 of 7 free throws.

Junior Samantha Dutton was second on the team with 9 points. She grabbed five rebounds, which was second for Highland.

Junior Chelsey Lampe grabbed a team-high six boards. She had three assists.

?We had breakdowns at very critical points of the game,? Fink said. ?We didn?t do a very good job of adjusting to  the game or trying to get ourselves in the game.?

Huskies move to 5-1

RIVERSIDE ? The Highland boys? basketball team took care of Winfield-Mt. Union with ease in a 60-43 win, Monday.

After taking a 13-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, W-MU knotted the score at the break.

The Huskies outscored W-MU by 17 in the second half. Highland moves to 5-1 on the season.
