Basketball regional and district pairings released
DES MOINES ? The regional pairings have been released for all classes of girls? basketball and for Class 1A and 2A in boys? basketball.
In Class 1A girls? basketball, Winfield-Mt. Union, WACO and New London have all fallen in Region 6.

DES MOINES ? The regional pairings have been released for all classes of girls? basketball and for Class 1A and 2A in boys? basketball.
In Class 1A girls? basketball, Winfield-Mt. Union, WACO and New London have all fallen in Region 6.
W-MU will host WACO in the first round on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. The SEISC North opponents have met twice already this season, with W-MU taking both games. In the teams? first matchup, in Winfield, the Wolves took the contest by a score of 39-28. When the Wolves went to WACO, they managed a 45-43 win.
Regardless of the first-round results, second- and third-round games will also be played in Winfield.
The New London girls will travel to Holy Trinity for their first-round game on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. The teams have met twice, including once just last night. Holy Trinity won both contests.
In 3A basketball, Mt. Pleasant will travel to Keokuk for its first regional game, which is on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. The Panthers and the Chiefs are SEC rivals, but Keokuk has the upper hand this season, winning both matchups by 10 points: 57-50, then 47-40.
In boys? Class 1A basketball, W-MU, WACO and New London belong to District 13.
New London plays its first-round game in West Burlington on Monday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. The Tigers have played the same matchup twice already, and were dealt two losses: the first was 54-16, but in the second the Tigers were only one shot away: 52-49.
WACO will start the tournament by hosting Holy Trinity Catholic on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. The teams have played only once this season, and the Warriors took the game, 46-39, in Ft. Madison.
W-MU begins regional play at Sigourney, and the Wolves? game will also be Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. W-MU hasn?t played Sigourney (9-8 overall) yet this season.
The Class 3A boys? regional pairing have not yet been released.
