It was a quiet day on the Southeast Iowa basketball slate, but there were still a few games around the area and beyond.
BOYS
Alburnett 64, New London 64 (Overtime)
New London played an epic showdown at Alburnett in a battle of highly-touted Class 1A teams. The Pirates outscored the Tigers 64-62 in overtime.
Devin Swanson sent the game into overtime with a banked in 3-pointer in the final seconds of regulation. The Tigers had a chance to win it at the horn, but a last-second 3-pointer fell short.
Blaise Porter had 17 points in the loss. kade Benjamin scored 16, and Grant Swanson had 15.
Keota 79, Highland 61
Keota dominated the first half of a Union area showdown and had plenty enough to coast in the second.
Sawyer Stout put up 21 points to lead the Eagles. Evan Vittetoe put up 17, and Aidan Anderson scored 13.
Chase Schultz led Highland with 16 points. Brenton Bonebrak and Devin Lovetinsky each had 10.
Mediapolis 40, Pekin 36
The Panthers nearly pulled a home upset over Southeast Iowa Super Confernece North Division foe Mediapolis.
The Bulldogs led 9-5 after one quarter, 20-14 at halftime and 33-26 after three. Pekin outscored Mediapolis by three points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late.
GIRLS
Mediapolis 35, Pekin 22
The Panthers held Mediapolis to a season-low in points, but the offense couldn’t put up enough to help pull off the SEISC North upset.
