Fairfield senior basketball player Sidney Baumann earned the Iowa Network Services ?Player of the Week? honor for Class 4A girls on Wednesday.
Baumann averaged 29 points and connected on 65 percent of her 3-point shots over a three-game span. The Trojan poured in 32 points in two of the games, and she totaled 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals in a win over Centerville. She was 8 of 11 from beyond the 3-point arc vs. Pella, and the eight treys set a new school record.
The Trojans went 1-2 over that span but have since earned another victory, topping non-conference opponent Chariton 56-32 on Tuesday.
In all of Class 4A, Baumann is ranked fifth in scoring (16.9 points per game) and fifth in number of 3-pointers made (43). Her 47 steals rank her third in the Southeast Conference.
