Well on its way to its second win of the season, the FHS girls? tennis team won four of six singles matches against Albia before weather cut doubles, and the match, short.
No make up date has been set for the match that Fairfield holds a lead in all doubles matches. Olivia Bachar and Megan Proctor led 6-3, Whitney Taglauer and Emily Gleason led 5-0, and Serena Ward and Courtney Kerr held a 4-1 advantage when play was suspended. Fairfield needs just one of those wins to clinch the team victory.
In singles, Megan Proctor posted a victory for the Trojans at No. 2 with an 8-3 win over Chelsea Tratchel. Whitney Taglauer won 8-2 at No. 3, Serena Ward won 8-1 at No. 4 and Emily Gleason concluded a good round of singles with an 8-5 win at No. 6. Rachel Chambers and Chelsey VandenBerg won for Albia.
In JV doubles play, Lindsay Smith teamed up with Amanda Hostetler for a 6-4 win. Also winning 6-4 was the duo of Liza Pergiel and Sara Conner.
Fairfield currently holds a 4-2 lead ? a lead they will hold onto along with the rain check. The Trojans will be at home again hoping for better weather tonight against conference opponent Fort Madison.
