Beautiful day for Fairfield Invite

The Fairfield boys' golf team shifted their annual invitational to Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning to avoid the impending rains that dampened Silicorn Valley over the weekend. The decision proved perfect as the Trojans and their six guest-schools enjoyed picture-perfect conditions that helped three Trojans score in the 80s which was 'really good” according to their coach Mick Flattery.

'It was a great day for golf,” said Flattery. 'A little windy at times, but very doable.

No only did a trio of Trojans dip into the 80s, all six guys shot in the 40s on the front nine and five of the six did the same on the back nine.

'We are consistently dropping our scores,” added Flattery. 'It's a great time of the year to be doing that.”

Trojans

Senior Jackson Weaton looked calm as he sunk five pars and a birdie on his way to an 85 (41-44). Jeremy Crile shot an 87 (44-43) that included three pars, while Brad Smithburg 89 (46-43) and Evan Haines 90 (46-44) each scored four pars during the day. Josh Brewington netted the low-round on the back nine with his 42 that gave him a 91 for the day and Drake Rippey went (49-52) to score a 101.
