Becker, Rupp win golf club championships

Jim Becker and Gayle Rupp were this year?s winners of the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club?s annual men?s and women?s golf championship tournaments, which were on Sept. 2.

In the men?s championship, Becker defeated Patrick Zielinski for the title and Troy Stith topped Mike Wilson to claim third place.

Rupp defeated Kate Mertens in the women?s championship.

Both Becker and Rupp have now won the championship 15 times. Becker?s wins have come over a 44-year period, and Rupp has picked up her wins over the last 34 years.

In the Presidential bracket at the tournament, Andy Zinkle defeated Kiley R. Miller in the first flight. Rob Zeglen won the second flight over Dave Weiss, Eric Rawson topped Kiley A. Miller in the third flight, and the fourth flight went to Kyle Kauffman over Doug Kennedy.

In the medal play tournament, which was in June, Zielinski won first place and Kennedy took second.
