FAIRFIELD — Fairfield senior Kiara Bickham made her college decision known on Tuesday at Fairfield High School. Bickham signed her letter of intent to attend and play women’s soccer at Cornell College.
Bickham, a second-year player for the Trojans, has risen in the ranks of the team. She is a dual-threat for Fairfield, playing both in the field and in net.
Currently, she has spent 240 minutes in net, and recorded 57 saves for the Trojans.
Bickham dove right into soccer when she went out for the team during her junior year. Previously to that, she had never played in a game.
“I just fell in love with the sport right when I first started,” Bickham said. “I was like, this is what I want to do in college for sure.”
She says she chose Cornell College in part because it is a good school for psychiatry, which she plans on studying in the future, and also because of the small school feel.
“I knew I wanted to go to a small school,” Bickham said. “I'm already in such a small community, and it would be an easier way to go. Everyone knows each other.”
Bickham will join a Cornell squad that went 4-13-3 this fall. They went 3-3-2 in conference.
The Trojans are still currently searching for their first win. Fairfield will travel to Centerville on Thursday night.
