Big inning gives Washington baseball win at Williamsburg
Demons’ Kroll, Meyer tied for 3rd in hitting category

WILLIAMSBURG — Lucas Kroll hit his fourth triple of the season Friday when Washington won a nonconference road baseball game 13-7 at Williamsburg.
Zeke Slagel, James Strabala and Reece Mayer had a combined pitching performance of nine strikeouts, eight walks, seven hits, four earned runs and three hit batters in the road triumph.
At the plate, Kroll was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in. Ethan Patterson had two stolen bases and was 2-for-4 while Mayer smashed a double as did Wilx Witthoft. Ethan Zieglowsky batted in two runs.
The Demons did not have any errors, and the Raiders had four. It was a 5-5 game when Washington scored seven runs in the fifth inning for a commanding 12-5 lead.
Kroll and teammate Mayer each have lashed four triples this season, tied for third in Class 3A. Kroll’s .491 batting average is 10th in the class as is his .754 slugging percentage.
The Raiders are 12-10. Washington’s record is 10-7 with a home conference doubleheader against Keokuk Monday.
