Big school soccer: Washington over Hillcrest, Fairfield rolls

The area’s Southeast Conference boys soccer teams all had games on Thursday. Washington and Fairfield both picked up victories, and Mt. Pleasant was defeated on the road.
Washington 5, Hillcrest Academy 1
Washington stormed back for five-straight goals in the second half after Hillcrest Academy had them down 1-0 at the half in Kalona.
The Ravens took an early lead on a goal by Phoenix Anderson. The Demons didn’t respond until Emanuel Raymundo scored in the 44th minute.
Washington scored three times in four minutes between the 55th and 59th minutes. Edwin Cortes broke the tie off an assist by Joshua Perez. One minute later, Raymundo got his second off an assist by Isaac Gentry, and Lane Schrock made it 4-1 with a goal off a Ben Kronlage helper.
In the 78th minute, Schrock added one more to put the nail in the coffin. For Hillcrest Academy, Kyle Neuschwander made seven assists.
Washington’s Will Gilchrist-Brock spent 74 minutes in net to earn the win.
Fairfield 10, Centerville 0
The Trojans smashed winless Centerville on the road, scoring seven first-half goals and adding three in the second period.
Miles Siemsen scored three goals for the Trojans. Bihn Troung and Everett Elliason netted two each. Mikael Anderson, Cooper Polonsky and Andrew Titze each scored one.
Mikael Anderson spent 55 minutes in net before the Trojans scored their 10th goal to end the game via the mercy rule. Anderson saved one shot.
Notre Dame 4, Mt. Pleasant 1
The Panthers were within one goal, as Notre Dame’s lead was just 2-1 with 17 minutes left in the game, but the Nikes added two more late to pull away.
Axel Noriega Ruiz had the only goal for Mt. Pleasant. Dylan White had seven shots on goal.
