The four biggest schools in the Union coverage area went at it on the track on Friday as Washington, Fairfield and Mid-Prairie all came to Mt. Pleasant for a boy-girl meet. All four schools walked out with at least a couple of wins.
The Mid-Prairie girls led the way, dominating the individual running events and taking one relay for a five-win day.
Mitzi Evans was a double winner for the Golden Hawks. She took the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.74 seconds and won the 400-meter dash in 59.33 seconds.

The Golden Hawks’ lone relay winner was the distance medley team of Alyssa McDowell, Behla Schmidt, Tabitha Evans and Fleming. They finished in 4:45.03.
Mid-Prairie as a whole won seven events. On the boys’ side, Cain Brown won the high jump in 6 feet, 5 inches. The 4X800 team of Jayse Yoder, Robert Nagy, Blake Creed and Chandler Hershberger won in 4:48.78.
The Mt. Pleasant track teams combined for six wins, three on the boys side and three on the girls.
The Panther boys went one-two in the 110-meter high hurdles. Bryce Wilson crossed first in 15.58 seconds, edging second-place Will Davidson, who finished in 15.68.
Davidson, Morgan Van Nyhuis, Avin Truong and Wilson combined to win the shuttle hurdle relay, taking the top spot in 1:04.09. Davidson won the long jump, leaping 20-06.25.
The Panther girls scooped up a trifecta of wins, two individuals and one relay.

Washington’s Brayden Hartman won the boys’ shot put. He took first with a throw of 49-10.
The Demon boys’ distance medley team took second to Iowa City High, but they set a new school record in doing so. They broke an old record set by the 1999 Demon squad of Andy Six, Alex Six, Brian Stegall and Adam Miller.
The squad of Ethan Patterson, Jacob Miller, Elijah Morris and Lance Sobaski finished in 3:44.30, beating the old record set by the 1999 squad, which was 3:36.82.
