FORT MADISON — It looks like a Happy New Year is in store for the Washington boys basketball team after a huge Southeast Conference road win on Tuesday night.
The Demon boys went into Fort Madison and knocked off the Bloodhounds 73-63, scoring 24 fourth-quarter points to run away with their second league win of the year.
After being knotted up 10-10 at the end of the first period, Washington led 28-24 at halftime.
Fort Madison cut the lead down to 49-48 at the end of the third quarter, but the Demons went off in the final period to knock off the Bloodhounds in the Hound Dome.
It was the fourth win in a row for Washington against Fort Madison in boys’ basketball.
Roman Roth was hot early on, and he finished the game with 22 points to lead the Demons. Drew Conrad finished with 16 points, as did Nic Stone, who buried five 3-pointers on the night.
Washington is now 4-5 on the year. The Demons are 2-2 in conference play, tied with the Bloodhounds for third place going into 2024.
