FAIRFIELD — Fairfield senior Ben Boatright signed his letter of intent last Wednesday to run cross-country and track at field at St. Ambrose University in Davenport.
Boatright signed his letter surrounded by coaches, friends and family just outside of the Fairfield High School gymnasium.
“The main decision was academics, but I was very happy I was able to be able to run there,” Boatright said. “I love the campus, and I love all the people I've met there so far.”
Boatright says he plans on majoring in exercise science with plans to go on to physical therapy grad school.
“They have a great program there,” Boatright said. “It’s a shorter program that hopefully I can get into.”
Boatright and the Trojan track and field team has one more spring left before his high school career is over. He says FHS has helped build him up to be the collegiate runner he will be next school year.
“I've been able to have great coaches and teachers that have helped me more than just academics and athletics,” said Boatright. “I’m ready for track season. It’s my favorite sport.”
