Bowling roundup: Mt. Pleasant, Washington fall short

Mt. Pleasant and Washington boys and girls bowling were both in action last week.
It was a tough week for all four squads as each suffered losses.
Both the Washington boys and girls bowled on Wednesday, taking part in the Keokuk County Bowl, which featured Louisa-Muscatine and Sigourney-Keota. Mt. Pleasant faced off with Keokuk in a head-to-head.
The Demon boys (0-3) fell to Louisa-Muscatine (2-1) in the bowl, 2,748-2,002.
Caleb Zieglowsky led the Demons with 332 total pins. That was good enough for third. Cooper Zahs finished with 279 pins. Trevin Sulentich had 276 total pins, followed by Kellton Burke with 260, Mason Catenaccio with 242 and Bryce Fogle with 157.
The Washington girls (0-2) fell to L-M (1-1) by a score of 2,425-520.
As for Mt. Pleasant, the boys (1-1) came just under 300 pins short against Keokuk (1-1), 2,872-2,574.
Alec Payne and Conner Sizemore were the two highest finishers for Mt. Pleasant. Payne’s 488 and Sizemore’s 416 were good enough for first and second.
Henry Pforts finished with 347 total pins, followed by Titus Reno, 341, Keagan Ellington, 267 and Joseph Rheinschmidt, 262.
On the girls’ side, Mt. Pleasant (1-1) was topped by the Chiefs (2-0) 2,758-2,215.
Addison McGehearty finished as the top Panther with 294 pins. Shyann Smith ended with 288, Bethany Drury, 286, Natalie Brush, 284, Madelynn Millard, 228 and Joanna Fortin, 197.
