Bowman breaks 500-freestyle school record
KEOKUK ? The Fairfield swim team concluded the regular season Thursday in a double dual in Keokuk against Burlington and the host Chiefs.
The Trojans beat Burlington 58-51 but fell to Keokuk 63-46.
Baylee Bowman broke the Fairfield High School record in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:48.89. The old record was 5:49.11 set by Jean Matzen in 2004.

KEOKUK ? The Fairfield swim team concluded the regular season Thursday in a double dual in Keokuk against Burlington and the host Chiefs.
The Trojans beat Burlington 58-51 but fell to Keokuk 63-46.
Baylee Bowman broke the Fairfield High School record in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:48.89. The old record was 5:49.11 set by Jean Matzen in 2004.
Bowman also placed second in the 100-backstroke (1:10.01) following her record-breaking performance.
Jade Greiner won both the 50-freestyle (27.05) and 100-butterfly (1:05.60). Abby McMahon won the 100-breastroke (1:16.49) and came in second in the 200-individual medley (2:31.26), which came down to the wire (1:10.01).
Jaci Bell won the diving portion uncontested with a score of 173.70, and Claire Slechta placed third in the 100-freestyle with a clocking of 1:08.38.
In relays, the team of Bowman, McMahon, Greiner and Slechta took second in both the 200-medley and 400-freestyle. Hanna Kerr, Eden and Jaci Bell and Slechta combined in the 200-freestyle to finish in fourth.
The Fairfield swim team continues its season with regionals at Cedar Rapids Kennedy next week. The diving portion will be Thursday, and the swimming portion will be Oct. 29.
