Bowman steers Fairfield swim team
MUSCATINE ? Fairfield junior Baylee Bowman picked up a pair of top-three finishes to help the Fairfield swim team collect 72 points at Saturday?s meet in Muscatine.
The Trojans finished sixth in the seven-team field, beating Tipton by 25 points. Linn Mar won the meet with 408 points, Muscatine was second with 355 and Williamsburg scored 193 points to finish third.

MUSCATINE ? Fairfield junior Baylee Bowman picked up a pair of top-three finishes to help the Fairfield swim team collect 72 points at Saturday?s meet in Muscatine.
The Trojans finished sixth in the seven-team field, beating Tipton by 25 points. Linn Mar won the meet with 408 points, Muscatine was second with 355 and Williamsburg scored 193 points to finish third.
Bowman took second in the 100-meter freestyle and nearly won, finishing two-hundredths of a second behind Linn Mar?s Lizzie Adams in 58.25, and the junior was third in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:06.11. Bowman also teamed up with Dorian Larson, Macy Unkrich and Paige Palmer to finish 10th in the 400-freestyle relay (5:12); and along with Larson, Hanna Kerr and Allison Angstead finished 12th in the 200-medley relay (2:22.18).
Also scoring for Fairfield were 1-meter divers Katherine Mueller, a freshman, and senior Jaci Bell. In her first high school diving event, Mueller finished third with a score of 191.85 while Bell was right behind at 191.65. Alyssa Deuso of Linn Mar won the event with a score of 194.80.
The Trojan swimmers and divers will be back in action Sept. 11 at Keokuk.
