DONNELLSON ? A game that could?ve went either team?s way ultimately went the way of the home squad as Van Buren lost to Central Lee 69-56 Friday in Donnellson.
The lead seesawed back and forth for much of the contest until the fourth quarter, when a Central Lee 3-pointer and two putbacks pushed the score to 59-48 with a few minutes to go.
?Our boys hung in there pretty good. For three and a half quarters the game could?ve went either way,? said Van Buren head coach Fred Parsons. ?The kids were disappointed, but I think if we tweak our game plan just a little we should be fine as the season continues.?
Leading the Warriors were Elliott Remick with 14 points, and Colin Weaver and Zach Boyd with 13 each. Dalton Stine scored 11 and Blake Scott added five points. Altogether, the team shot 52 percent from the field compared to 61 percent for Central Lee.
The Warriors (1-3, 1-3 SEISC south) will play New London at home Tuesday.
