Boys Basketball Class 3A matchups announced

Class 3A players and fans can now clearly see their teams path to the state tournament with the release of the 2022 Iowa High School Athletic Association Substate brackets.
No. 3 Washington (16-3) is alone in the Class 3A Substate 4 bracket. The other Southeast Conference teams are in bracket 5.
The one seeded Demons will take on South Tama (1-19) in the first round. The Trojan’s leading scorer is Osceola Tyon, who is averaging 16 points per game.
Should the Demons win, they will advance to the second round against either Solon (13-7) or Center Pointer-Urbana (7-13) on Feb. 24.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Central Dewitt (13-5) plays Grinnell (4-15) and Xavier (9-9) faces Benton (5-14).
Bracket 5 features some enticing matchups.
Mt. Pleasant (8-11) is matched up with Mount Vernon (9-10) in the first round. That game will be played at Mount Vernon. The Mustangs are led by Joe Romberg and Brady Erickson with 10.5 and 10.1 points per game averages.
The winner will play either Keokuk (4-14) or Marion (15-4) on Feb. 24 at Marion High School.
Fairfield (8-10) is on the opposite side of the bracket. The Trojans will play Clear Creek-Amana (13-6) in the first round. The Clippers leading scorer is Ben Swails with a 16.7 points per game average.
The victor will get Fort Madison (15-3) or Oskaloosa (5-14) in the second round. That game will be at Fort Madison.
