Boys basketball: Keota, WMU, Hillcrest stay unbeaten

Keota (4-0) 67, Iowa Valley (1-1) 30
Keota had no problem with Iowa Valley on Friday on its way to win number four.
The Eagles led a commanding 39-18 lead at the half and only extended it through the third and fourth. Keota took the final two quarters 28-12.
Sawyer Stout led the Eagles with 24 points. Billie Kindred ended with 11 points, while pulling down 13 boards. Aiden McGuire had eight points. Evan Vittetoe grabbed 11 rebounds as well.
Winfield-Mt. Union (2-0) 55, Pekin (1-1) 37
Winfield-Mt. Union grabbed win number two on Friday with a victory over Pekin.
The Wolves held a 31-14 lead at the half. Pekin cut it down to 12 after the third, 44-32, but WMU closed with an 11-5 fourth.
Abram Edwards finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Wolves. Jake Edwards added 15 points and Carter Loyd had 10.
For Pekin, Will Adam and JaeDon Wolver each had 10. Wolver grabbed 10 boards as well. Sven Dahlstrom finished with nine points.
WACO (1-1) 63, Wapello (0-2) 30
WACO picked up its first win of the season on Friday with a lopsided win over Wapello.
The Warriors outscored the Indians 19-5, 20-9, 11-5 and 13-11 on their way to the 33 point victory.
Clayton Miller finished with 15 points to lead WACO. Isaac Rich followed with 14 and Reece Oswald had 10 points and a team-high nine boards.
Hillcrest Academy (3-0) 63, Rivermont Collegiate (0-2) 28
Hillcrest Academy stayed perfect on Friday after defeating Rivermont Collegiate.
The Ravens led by just five after the first quarter, 18-13, but went on to outscore the Lions 45-15 in the final three quarters.
Seth Ours finished with 16 points in the win. Owen Scott scored 10 and Rowan Miller nine.
Mid-Prairie (1-1) 61, Northeast (1-2) 43
Mid-Prairie put together an efficient performance on Saturday against Northeast.
The Golden Hawks outscored the Rebels 17-13, 22-13, 13-9 and 9-8 on their way to the 18 point win.
Bryce Henry finished with 21 points and six rebounds in the win. Landon Sullivan scored 12 and Dylan Henry ended with 10.
Central Lee (1-1) 71, New London (1-1) 42
New London suffered its first loss of the year on Friday night on the road at Central Lee.
It was a rough one for the Tigers who found themselves down 19 at the half, 40-21. The Hawks went on to outscore the Tigers 16-12 and 15-9 in the final two quarters.
Louisa-Muscatine (1-2) 82, Columbus (0-3) 62
Louisa-Muscatine was just a little bit too much for Columbus on Friday.
The Wildcats faced a 45-29 deficit after two quarters and couldn’t make up the difference in the second half as the Falcons grabbed their first win.
Tim Hills-Carrier finished with 15 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Gabriel Zuniga ended with 14 points and Ellis Hills-Carrier notched 13.`
Knoxville (2-0) 89, Cardinal (0-2) 24
Cardinal was held to single digits in all four quarter Friday against Knoxville.
The Comets trailed the Panthers 52-14 after two quarters of action and Knoxville went on to take the second half 37-10.
Notre Dame (1-1) 72, Van Buren County (1-2) 32
Van Buren County couldn’t keep pace with Notre Dame on Friday night as the Warriors suffered their second loss of the season.
Izaak Loeffler finished with 13 points and six rebounds for VBC. Lucas Fett ended with 10 points and Will Cocherell had three.
Lone Tree (2-1) 62, Highland (0-2) 30
Highland is still looking for its first victory of the season after a tough loss to Lone Tree on Friday.
The Huskies got outside single digits in just one quarter in the matchup.
Lone Tree led 46-25 after the two quarters and closed with a 24-18 run through the third and fourth.
Logan McFarland paced the Huskies with 11 points and seven rebounds. Nicolas Oriano followed with five points and Bryce Hazelett had five.
