The 2021-22 boys basketball regular season is winding to an end, but there are still a few games left on the schedule. Tuesday night was the last full Tuesday of area regular season basketball, as tournament time is almost among us.
No. 2 (2A) Mid-Prairie 74, Durant 46
It was all Mid-Prairie as the Golden Hawks smashed Durant in a River Valley South home win.
Jackson Pennington went a perfect 9-for-9 from the field and scored a team-leading 20 points. Carter Harmsen scored 14, and Ethan Kos finished with 13, on 6-of-6 shooting.
Davis County 75, Keota 69
The Eagles couldn’t quite stage a second-half comeback in a non-conference home game against Davis County.
Cole Kindred went off in the loss, scoring 29 points and dishing out five assists to lead Keota. Sawyer Stout added 15.
New London 75, Holy Trinity 35
The Tigers bounced back from a road loss on Monday to blast Holy Trinity by 40 points in Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division play.
New London led 21-12 after one quarter, 39-17 at halftime and 59-28 after three periods.
The conference champions closed the year out with five-straight wins in South Division play.
WACO 59, Notre Dame 49
The Warriors closed the year out with a big road win against an SEISC South rival. It was WACO’s second win over the Nikes this season, completing the regular-season sweep.
Cardinal 68, Central Lee 47
The Comets blasted Central Lee on the road. Cardinal led 17-7 after one quarter and stretched that lead to 38-14 by the end of the third quarter.
Danville 70, Van Buren County 41
The Warriors traveled to second-place Danville and couldn’t pull off the road upset.
Winfield-Mount Union 54, Hillcrest Academy 28
The Wolves pulled off a big SEISC North Division win over third-place Hillcrest, winning every quarter en route to a convincing victory.
It was a break out game for WMU freshman Jake Edwards, who led the Wolves with 17 points. Cam Buffington had 13 points, and Abram Edwards scored 11.
Mediapolis 56, Columbus 23
It was a rough night for the Wildcats in a SEISC North Road matchup. A 19-3 first quarter was all Mediapolis needed to catapult to victory.
Marco Martinez scored five points to lead Columbus.
