Boys basketball roundup: Highland, WMU come up short

Just a few Union area boys’ basketball teams were in action on Monday night. It was a tough go for the pair as both suffered losses.
Sigourney 54, Highland 48
Highland didn’t have quite enough against Sigourney on Monday night.
The Savages led the Huskies 19-13 after one and 31-25 at the break. Highland rallied in the third period, outscoring Sigourney 17-12 to make it a one point game heading into the final eight minutes of action.
Sigourney was able to pull away and seal it with a 9-6 fourth quarter.
Logan Bonebrake finished with 22 points and six rebounds for Highland in the loss. Nicolas Oriano followed with eight and Logan McFarland ended with seven.
No. 5 West Burlington 66, Winfield-Mt. Union 52
Winfield-Mt. Union just didn’t have enough to come out on top against the No. 5 Falcons on Monday night.
Cam Buffington paced the Wolves with 25 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Abram Edwards followed with 15 points and nine boards. Andrew Brown ended with six.
