Boys basketball roundup: Keota stays unbeaten

WACO (2-2) 77, Columbus (0-5) 33
WACO put together a nice defensive effort on Friday against Columbus.
The Warriors held the Wildcats to single digits in three of four quarters. WACO led 45-18 after the first and outscored Columbus 32-15 in the second half.
Hunter Hughes led the Warriors with 39 points in the win. Colton Leichty and Reece Oswald both notched 12.
For Columbus, Tim Hills-Carrier had 12, Gabriel Zuniga seven and Ellis Hills-Carrier five.
Pekin (3-1) 75, Highland (0-4) 14
Pekin notched win number three on the season with a dominant showing against Highland.
The Panthers led 18-4 after the first, 38-6 at the half and 60-8 after three.
Sven Dahlstrom finished with 18 points and six boards for Pekin. Will Adam had 13 points, along with JaeDon Wolver.
Colton Sypherd ended with four for Highland, Logan McFarland had two as well Ayden Havel.
Keota (6-0) 77, Tri-County (0-5) 28
Keota stayed unbeaten on Friday after downing Tri-County.
The Eagles scored 29 points in the first quarter and led 46-13 at the break. Keota went on to outscore the Trojans 31-15 in the second half to seal it.
Sawyer Stout scored a game-high 20 points for the Eagles. Evan Vittetoe followed with 16 points and eight boards. Tanner Waterhouse had 11 points.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (3-1) 80, Cardinal (0-5) 39
Cardinal couldn’t slow Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on the offensive end on Friday night.
The Rockets scored 45 points through two quarters and added 35 in the second half, while giving up just 16 in the first and 23 in the second.
Central Lee (3-2) 82, Van Buren County (1-4) 55
Van Buren County fell to Central Lee on Friday night after leading following the opening period.
The Warriors held a 16-14 advantage after one, but the Hawks went on to outscore the Warriors 68-39 the rest of the way. That includes a 34-17 fourth quarter.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (4-1) 79, Pekin (3-2) 42
Pekin fell to EBF on Saturday on the road.
The Panthers were down just six after one, 16-10, but the Rockets never let Pekin get any closer.
EBF outscored the Panthers 20-14, 30-8 and 13-10 in the final three quarters.
Kasey Davis finished with 13 points for Pekin. Sven Dahlstrom followed with 12 points and Henry Adam had five.
Holy Trinity Catholic (3-2) 74, New London (1-3) 44
New London led HTC 31-25 at the half on Friday, but the Crusaders went on a scoring rampage in the second half. HTC outscored New London 49-13 in the final two quarters.
Brendan Richey finished with 11 points for New London. Brigham Porter had 10 points and nine rebounds. Memphis Watson tallied nine points.
West Branch (3-1) 83, Mid-Prairie (2-2) 46
Mid-Prairie fell to a great West Branch team on Friday night.
The Golden Hawks were led by Bryce Henry with 10 points. Landon Sullivan and Dylan Henry both finished with eight points.
