Boys basketball roundup: Keota wins battle of unbeatens

Keota (7-0) 91, Belle Plaine (6-1) 50
Keota picked up a huge win on Tuesday over previously unbeaten Belle Plaine.
The Eagles led by just four after the first and then 40-31 at the half, but they blew the game open in the second half. Keota went on to outscore the Plainsmen 51-19 in the final two quarters.
Sawyer Stout led the Eagles with 25 points in the win. Evan Vittetoe finished with 14 points and nine rebounds. Cole Kindred notched 12 points and seven assists.
Hillcrest Academy (6-1) 61, Pekin (3-3) 52
Hillcrest Academy grabbed win number six on Tuesday with a win over Pekin.
The Ravens led 23-13 after one, but Pekin cut into the lead with a 14-11 second period to make it 34-27. Both squads scored 16 in the third and Hillcrest Academy closed it out with an 11-9 fourth.
Columbus (1-5) 60, Wapello (1-5) 47
Columbus grabbed its first win of the season on Tuesday night against Wapello.
The Wildcats trailed after one, 11-10, but the they went on to top the Indians in the final three quarters, 14-11, 15-11 and 21-14.
WACO (3-2) 76, Highland (0-5) 22
WACO put together a complete performance against Highland on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors held the Huskies to single digits in all four quarter, 27-5, 25-8, 14-5 and 10-4, on their way to the win.
WACO was led by Hunter Hughes with a triple double, 16 points, 11 steals and 10 assists. Colton Leichty, Isaac Rich, Clayton Miller each had 10 points.
For Highland Louis Horak ended with six points and seven rebounds. Brody Miller had four and Ayden Havel three.
Wilton (4-1) 71, Mid-Prairie (2-3) 60
Mid-Prairie came up a little short to Wilton on Tuesday night.
The Golden Hawks and Beavers were knotted at 30-30 at the halftime break and 47-47 after three, but Wilton went on to take the fourth 24-13 to win it.
Mediapolis (4-2) 58, New London (1-4) 42
New London trail after the first, 15-5, against Mediapolis of Tuesday, but the Tigers battled back with a 18-7 second for a 23-22 halftime lead.
However, the Bulldogs ended strong topping the Tigers 36-19 in the third and fourth.
Danville (5-2) 68, Van Buren County (1-5) 13
Van Buren County struggled mightily against Danville in the two’s Tuesday night clash.
The Warriors scored just seven points through the first half and six points in the second, which included a scoreless third period.
