Boys basketball roundup: WACO stays unbeaten

WACO held Columbus to singles digits in all four quarters on Friday night.
The Warriors outscored the Wildcats 38-7, 21-6, 12-7 and 15-3 in each quarter.
WACO (5-0) 70, Keota (6-1) 36
WACO handed Keota its first loss on Saturday night.
The Warriors outscored the Eagles 22-8, 21-8 and 18-6.
Keota would win the fourth 14-9, but the WACO lead was too much.
Keota (5-0) 72, Tri-County (1-4) 20
The Eagles won their fifth straight with the victory over Tri-County on Friday.
Keota allowed under 10 points in each quarter in the win.
They outscored the Trojans 13-6, 19-9, 26-4 and 14-1 on the night.
Sawyer Stout paced the Eagles with 17 points in the win. Cole Kindred followed with 15. Evan Vittetoe added nine.
Winfield-Mt. Union (3-1) 55, Wapello (0-3) 20
WMU led 24-0 after one quarter against Wapello. The Wolves would go on to limit the Indians to single digits in the next three quarters, 15-8 and 11-6. In the fourth Wapello won the quarter, 6-5.
Cam Buffington led the Wolves with 18 points. Carter Loyd finished with 10. Abram Edwards and Andrew Brown each finished with eight.
Winfield-Mt. Union (4-1) 59, Hillcrest Academy (3-2) 56
WMU and Hillcrest Academy needed overtime in their Saturday night contest, but it was the Wolves taking it in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division clash.
New London (3-1) 87, Holy Trinity Catholic (1-5) 66
New London won its third game of the season with its victory over the Crusaders.
Hillcrest Academy (3-1) 81, Louisa-Muscatine (2-3) 67
Hillcrest Academy’s win over Louisa-Muscatine marked its third of the season.
The Ravens led 27-14 after one and 43-35 at the half. In the second, Hillcrest outscored the Falcons 18-16 and 20-16.
Grant Bender scored a whopping 41 points in the win. Seth Ours added 16.
Van Buren County (2-2) 59, Central Lee (0-5) 34
Van Buren County dominated Central Lee in the first half on Friday.
The Warriors gave up just four points, two in each quarter, in the first half. At the break they led 30-4.
Central Lee won the third, 17-15, but Van Buren won the fourth 14-13 and waltzed to its second win.
West Branch (1-3) 64, Mid-Prairie (3-1) 56
Mid-Prairie came up just short against West Branch on Friday, marking its first loss of the season.
Camron Pickard led the Golden Hawks with 23 points on the night. Alex Bean ended with 14.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (4-0) 79, Cardinal (0-3) 23
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (5-0) 53, Pekin (2-2) 36
Pekin is back to .500 with the loss to the Rockets.
Pekin won the first quarter, 12-8, but lost the second and third 16-5 and 17-6. Pekin would win the fourth 13-12, but the deficit was too great.
