Boys basketball roundup: WACO makes comeback on Hillcrest Academy

WACO 48, Hillcrest Academy 46
WACO downed Hillcrest Academy in comeback fashion on Tuesday night.
The Warriors fell behind 16-7 after one quarter. Both finished with 11 points in the second, putting Hillcrest Academy up 27-18 at the half.
However, WACO came out on a mission in the second half. The Warriors held the Ravens to just two field goals and four points in the third quarter. WACO went on to score 12 of its own.
After three, the Raven’s lead was just one 31-30.
WACO went on to outscore Hillcrest Academy 18-15 for the win in the fourth. In all, WACO outscored the Ravens 30-19 in the second half.
Christian Stacy finished with 24 points for the Warriors, 18 of which came in the second half.
For Hillcrest Academy, Bryce Bailey scored 11.
Highland 67, Wapello 48
Highland picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday with a victory over Wapello.
The Huskies outscored the Indians 38-20 in the first half. Highland kept up the momentum, taking the third 20-13 for a 58-33 lead heading into the fourth.
Bryce Hazelett finished with 30 points in the win for Highland. Logan McFarland followed with 14 and William Dunbar seven points.
Winfield-Mt. Union 63, Columbus 52
Winfield-Mt. Union topped Columbus on Tuesday night for win number four on the season.
Columbus led 15-11 after one, but the Wolves outscored the Wildcats 37-18 through the next two quarters.
The Wildcats took the fourth 19-15, but it wasn’t enough.
Jake Edwards scored 27 points for WMU. Lane Genkinger had 16 points and Cooper Buffington seven.
Mid-Prairie 75, Wilton 56
Mid-Prairie stays unbeaten with its win over Wilton on Tuesday evening.
Pekin 63, Lone Tree 46
Pekin got by Lone Tree on Tuesday night with a 17 point victory.
The Panthers led by just four at the half, 35-31, but went on to top the Lions 28-15 in the second half.
Holy Trinity Catholic 87, Van Buren County 51
Van Buren County was down to Holy Trinity Catholic by just eight after two quarters, 36-28.
The Crusaders went on to drop in 51 points in the second half.
Davis County 70, Cardinal 40
Cardinal suffered defeat at the hands of Davis County on Tuesday. The Comets were outscored just 32-27 in the first half, but the Mustangs won the scoring battle 38-13 in the second half.
