Boys basketball: WACO rebounds

No. 4 WACO 55, Pekin 43
WACO never trailed Pekin at any quarters end on Tuesday.
The Warriors won the first 12-9, the second 14-10 and the third 19-14 for a 45-33 lead heading into the fourth.
Both teams ended with a 10-10 quarter to seal the Warriors victory.
Hunter Hughes led the Warriors with 16 points. Simeon Reichenbach had nine points and Colton Leichty finished with eight.
Winfield-Mt. Union 62, Lone Tree 24
WMU had no problem with Lone Tree on Tuesday night.
The Wolves outscored the Lions 39-11 in the first half and 23-13 in the second on their way to the win.
New London 62, Keokuk 51
A big second half propelled New London to a win on Tuesday.
The Tigers led just 35-32 after two quarters of action, but they ended strong outscoring the Chiefs 27-19.
Blaise Porter led New London with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Leo Gebauer ended with 22 points and Rylan Martin totaled six.
Cardinal 50, Central Lee 48
Cardinal was able to just edge Central Lee on Monday night after a back-and-forth battle.
The Comets outscored the Hawks 20-18, but trailed after two, 28-26.
Cardinal got the win ending the game with a pair of 12-10 quarters.
Cardinal 69, Seymour 46
Cardinal dominated Seymour for a half on its way to a win Tuesday.
The Comets outscored the Warriors, 24-6 and 23-10 for a 47-16 halftime advantage.
Seymour came back to win the third and fourth 17-14 and 13-8, but it wasn’t enough.
Hillcrest Academy 78, Columbus 27
Hillcrest Academy held Columbus to single digits in all four quarters on Tuesday night.
The Ravens won each quarter, 26-8, 21-8, 18-3 and 13-8.
Grant Bender finished with 33 points in the win. Luke Schrock ended with 11 and Rowan Miller had 10.
Keota 74, Highland 39
Keota established itself early against Highland. The Eagles led 21-8 after one and 37-15 at the break.
In the second half the Eagles held onto their lead with a 21-15 third and a 16-9 fourth.
Sawyer Stout had a game-high 33 points in the win. Cole Kindred finished with 20 and Aiden McGuire had eight.
For Highland, Ethan Paisley tallied 11, while Logan Bonebrake and Nicolas Oriano each had 10. Oriano grabbed 16 boards as well.
