Keota falls short of century mark in win
In a road contest, the Keota boys? basketball offense was firing on all cylinders on Tuesday night.
The Eagles saw all 13 athletes who played fill the score sheet in the game, as they routed Iowa Valley 99-28, falling just short of triple digits.
It?s the second-straight victory for Keota, as they have now won three of their last four games to improve to 12-5 on the season.
Keota senior Isaiah Hahn led the charge with 21 points in the contest, while sophomore Hunter Wilson had 17 points and a team-high five assists in the game.
Junior Avery Conrad also reached double figures for the Eagles, scoring 12 points.
The Eagles shot a sterling 60 percent from the field; and of the 39 made field goals for the Eagles, 26 came by assists.
Keota?s dominance in the game saw them take a 60-16 halftime lead, before the defense made a big mark in the third quarter, outscoring Iowa Valley 20-0.
The Eagles will look to keep the momentum going when they host rival Sigourney on Friday night.
IMS drops game to Falcons
Despite a pair of players in double figures and a late comeback, the IMS boys? basketball team fell on Tuesday night, suffering a 60-53 loss to Louisa-Muscatine.
Senior guard Eli Gingerich led the team with 14 points and six assists, while sophomore Mitchell Schmieder picked up 11 points, and junior Nick Yutzy added nine points and five assists.
IMS fell behind early in the game, eventually trailing L-M 33-23 at halftime.
After making it a 12-point deficit, L-M?s hold on the lead became less secure, as IMS battled it back to a single-digit deficit, but they couldn?t overtake the Falcons, who handed them their third loss in four games.
IMS now stands at 9-7 on the season, and will look to get going against Pekin on the road Friday night.
WACO falls to WMU
The Winfield-Mt. Union boys led 26-20 after two quarters of play against WACO, but that lead was erased by the Warriors in the third quarter, and the two teams went to the fourth knotted up at 35.
