A wild finish in Highland highlighted a busy night in area hoops.
Highland 45, Wapello 42
Bryce Hazelett knocked down a game-winning 3-pointer in the final five seconds to send Highland into the winner’s circle in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.
Hazelett finished with 18 points in the win. Landon Roling had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Preston Smith scored nine points.
Winfield-Mt. Union 56, Columbus 27
Winfield-Mt. Union doubled up Columbus in an SEISC North clash.
The Wolves led 24-13 at halftime, and stretched the advantage to 43-18 by the end of the third quarter. W-MU is now in second place in the North with a 4-1 record.
Pekin 73, Lone Tree 37
Pekin thrashed Lone Tree in a North Division road game, scoring 20 points or more in each of the first three quarters.
The Panthers led the game 46-22 at halftime, and pushed that advantage to 66-30 to kick off the running clock before the fourth quarter started.
Central Lee 58, New London 31
The Tigers couldn’t hang in there with a tough Hawks squad in a true road game.
Holy Trinity Catholic 70, Van Buren County 34
The Warriors were done in at home by a stacked Crusader squad, despite a 13-point night for Jace Duncan.
Mid-Prairie 60, Wilton 56
Mid-Prairie is now 4-0 after a comeback win at Wilton on Tuesday night.
Wilton led 44-41 going into the fourth quarter, but Mid-Prairie scored a game-high 19 points in the final eight minutes.
Albia 85, Cardinal 48
The Comets failed to get their first win, falling in South Central Conference play.
