Boys soccer roundup: Raven win second straight

Union area small school boys soccer teams were in action last Thursday and Friday.
Just two area squads picked up wins, while four came up short.
No. 9 (Class 1A) Hillcrest Academy 10, Wapello 0
No. 9 Hillcrest Academy had no problem with the Indians on Thursday. The Ravens scored eight goals in the first half and put two more in the net in the second to end it.
Grant Bender led the Ravens with three goals in the contest.
Seth Ours finished with a pair of goals as well. Mason Bender, Bryce Bailey, Owen Scott, Isaac Lybeck and Jesse Blossom all ended with one goal as well.
Hillcrest Academy is now 2-0 on the year.
Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union 2, Danville/New London 1
Columbus/WMU scored two goals in the first half, which proved to be enough in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup.
Danville/New London was able to get one back in the second, but couldn’t find the equalizer.
Talan Whaley scored the lone Bear goal. Aiden Konig had five saves in goal as well.
The victory marks the first for the Wildcats. The Bears sit at 0-1.
Central Lee 4, Highland 0
Highland still is searching for its first win after the tough loss to Central Lee.
The Hawks scored one goal in the first half and added three more in the second for the win.
For the Huskies, Jackson Keller made 16 saves.
Highland now sits at 0-5 on the season.
Mediapolis 1, WACO 0
WACO came up just short of Mediapolis on Thursday night.
One second-half goal from the Bulldogs was enough to get the win.
Colton Leichty finished with 17 saves in the net for the Warriors.
WACO is now 2-2 on the season.
Beckman Catholic 4, Mid-Prairie 0
Mid-Prairie had a tough go against Beckman Catholic on Friday.
The Golden Hawks were unable to find the back of the net, while the Trailblazers slipped four in.
Jacob Flynn finished with seven saves in the loss.
The Golden Hawks are back to .500 at 3-3.
PCM 7, Sigourney-Keota 2
Sigourney-Keota couldn’t contain the Mustangs in their Thursday night matchup.
PCM scored five first half goals and two more in the second. The Cobras matched the second half total, but the damage was too great.
Sigourney-Keota moves to 4-2 on the season.
