MARION, IND. ? Iowa Wesleyan College hurdler Keith Brown narrowly qualified for the semifinals in the 110-meter hurdles after the first day of the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Brown, a freshman from Milwaukee, Wis., came in 18th of 31 participants in the hurdle race, taking the final transfer spot to the semis.

MARION, IND. ? Iowa Wesleyan College hurdler Keith Brown narrowly qualified for the semifinals in the 110-meter hurdles after the first day of the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Brown, a freshman from Milwaukee, Wis., came in 18th of 31 participants in the hurdle race, taking the final transfer spot to the semis.
He finished fourth of seven in his heat with a time of :14.82, making the cut by :0.04 to advance.
Logan Moore of Siena Heights (Mich.) University posted the fastest time in preliminaries, clocking in at :14.13.
Cedrique Smith of Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University won Brown?s heat with a time of :14.32.
Brown?s time was :0.31 off his season best of :14.51, which he set on May 5 at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships.
The IWC rookie entered national competition seeded ninth of 31 participants. His qualifying time is an Iowa Wesleyan school record and the best in the NAIA by a freshman this year.
The semifinals in the 110 hurdles were to take place at noon today, and the finals were to be later, at approximately 3:40 p.m.
Brown was the only Iowa Wesleyan track and field athlete to qualify for the National Championships. It is his second time running at nationals, after also participating in the indoor national championships in March, where he finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of :8.18, earning All-American honors in the event.
