Brumbaugh leads Panther track at Wartburg
Mt. Pleasant senior lone winner in indoor meet, boys take silver in 2 relays

WAVERLY — The Mt. Pleasant boys and girls track teams both traveled to Wartburg College on Tuesday night, and each squad delivered multiple Top-5 finishes.
Panther shot put state champion Jadan Brumbaugh led the way on the girls’ side, picking up Mt. Pleasant’s only win on the day. Altogether, Mt. Pleasant tallied three Top-2 finishes and seven Top-5 outcomes.
Brumbaugh won the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 8 inches. That was more than five feet over the second-place throw.
In all, the Panther girls had two Top-2 finishes. Kenna Lamm took second in the 55-meter hurdles, with a time of 9.38 seconds.
Lamm and Jenna Gilmore qualified second and third in the hurdles. Lamm qualified in 9.38 seconds and followed with a mark of 9.46 seconds in the finals. Gilmore qualified in 9.82 seconds, and then took eighth in the finals, with a time of 10.68 seconds.
The Mt. Pleasant boys’ team was led by a pair of relays. The 4X400 team and the 4X800 team each finished second.
The Panther 4X400 team of Isaiah Albright, Gabe Feldmann, Jacob Richtman and Will Davidson took the silver in 3:44.73. The 4X800 squad of Feldmann, Nathan McWilliams, Richtman and Albright crossed the tape in 9:05.94, for another second place.
Davidson racked up another big finish in the 55-meter hurdles. The Panther junior qualified third in 8.25 seconds, and stayed in third in the finals, with an improved time of 7.88 seconds.
Gannon McNamee carried the flag for the Mt. Pleasant distance runners, picking up a fourth-place finish in the 3200-meter run. He crossed the tape in 11:40.94.
Isaac Jerrel scooped up one more Top-5 finish for the Panther boys. He took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 43-09.50.
Mt. Pleasant will be at Central College in Pella this weekend. The boys will run at a meet on Friday, and the girls will run on Saturday.
