Buch's AAU team win ninth-grade title
DES MOINES ? Nicole Buch and the seventh-grade Lady Barnstormers played up in the ninth-grade AAU State Tournament May 11-12 in Des Moines and came away with their second state title of the year.

DES MOINES ? Nicole Buch and the seventh-grade Lady Barnstormers played up in the ninth-grade AAU State Tournament May 11-12 in Des Moines and came away with their second state title of the year.
The seventh-grade team won three of its first four games to make it to the championship match, where they defeated Iowa Showtime 59-54 in a rematch to claim the title.
The Lady Barnstormers, who are coached by Todd Rogers, opened pool play with a 63-53 win over Sioux City Hoopla before being edged by Iowa Showtime 63-62. On the final day of competition, the team defeated the Iowa Dragons 68-40 in the quarterfinals and knocked out Northwest Iowa Stars with a 63-30 victory in the semifinals.
The Lady Barnstormers previously won the seventh-grade state title in February and signed up in the ninth-grade division to get good competition before heading to Nationals in Ohio.
Buch is a seventh-grade student at Fairfield Middle School. Her AAU basketball team is based out of Iowa City.
