Buffington rebuffs all in shot put victory
Winfield-Mount Union, Highland boys, girls run at Aamodt Relays

MEDIAPOLIS — Mediapolis longtime teacher and track coach has relays named for him. The Dave Aamodt Relays were conducted Tuesday and the Winfield-Mount Union and Highland boys and girls track teams participated.
Winfield-Mount Union’s Bradie Buffington outclassed the shot putters with a first-place throw almost three feet better than second. Her distance was 35 feet, 5 inches. Keetyn Townsley was second in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.9. Morgan Grelk took second in the 400 hurdles in 1 minute, 20.04 seconds.
Highland’s best finish was Sarah Burton’s long jump for second place at 16-6¼. The Huskies shuttle hurdle relay was second in 1 minute, 25.11 seconds.
Winfield-Mount Union’s best boys finish was Brody Barton in the 1600 meter in 4:59.36 and Dane Sweezer’s 110 meter hurdles in 16.88. The Wolves were second in the 4x800 meter in 9:22.32.
Highland earned a second place in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:35.52.
