Bullettes topple Wolves in battle for title

The Bullettes, who finished 9-0 in the division, clipped the Wolves, 25-17, 25-11 and 25-11 to hand Dave Pieart?s team its second loss in division play.
Katlyn Malone and Erica Robison each had three kills for W-MU. Shelby Therme and Alicia Escher contributed a pair each. Robison also had a pair of blocks at the net.
Katie Benson was the top playmaker with seven assists, Therme chipped in with three.
Serving stats showed Anna Crawford 8-10 with a pair of aces; Layne Davis had one ace in a perfect 6-6 night. Kassidy McLaughlin also was perfect in five serves with an ace and Benson also had an ace serve and did not err in four serves.
McLaughlin and Crawford led the serve reception category with seven digs each. Therme had five, and Bensen and Davis four apiece.
The match was the regular season finale for W-MU. The Wolves will host Burlington Notre Dame Oct. 19 in the regional tournament at Winfield.
