Busy weekend at Central Indoors

PELLA — All three of the Union coverage area’s big schools were in Pella over the weekend as Central College held three-straight days of indoor track.
Washington took both the girls and boys for a meet on Thursday night. The Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant girls went on Friday, and the Mt. Pleasant boys raced on Saturday.
The Mt. Pleasant boys led the way with five Top-2 finishes. That included two wins.
Panther jumper Avin Truong took first place in the long jump with a leap of 6.37 meters. The 4X800 relay team had another victory for Mt. Pleasant, winning the race in 9:13.89.
Mt. Pleasant’s Will Davidson took second in the 60-meter hurdles, qualifying in 8.89 seconds and crossing the tape in the finals in 8.77 seconds.
Nate Stroud took second in the high jump for the Panthers, leaping 5-10. The 4X200 team took second as well, crossing in 1:39.79.
Mt. Pleasant’s girls had three Top-2 finishes on Friday. Jadan Brumbaugh had the only win of the day, taking the shot put championship in 44-10.75.
Kenna Lamm took second place in the 60-meter hurdles, qualifying in 10.19 seconds and ending the finals with a time of 10.08 seconds. Andi Scott gave the Panther girls another second place, taking silver in the 400-meter dash, in 1:04.18.
Kelsey Pacha had the lone Top-2 finish for the Fairfield girls. She took first place in the 200-meter dash, crossing in 27.05 seconds.
Washington’s girls’ team had two second place finishes on Thursday. The distance medley team took second place, in 14:55.8. Grace Voss was second in the high jump, with a leap of 4-08.
The Washington boys didn’t have a Top-2 finish, but did collect a couple of thirds. The shuttle hurdle relay team finished in 42 seconds, and the distance medley team crossed the tape in 13:18.02.
