Tom Butters helped Mid-Prairie win a boys high school basketball game Friday.
Mid-Prairie 78, West Liberty 61
Butters banged his way to 16 rebounds, buried 12 of 13 field goals and made 6 of 9 free throws to finish with 30 points in the home River Valley Conference victory.
The Golden Hawks led 20-11 after one quarter and 36-26 at halftime. It was 56-39 to start the fourth.
Cale Robertson added 18 points and Brad Tornow distributed eight assists. Chaz Peterson chipped in 10 points.
Mid-Prairie (7-6, 6-6) hosts Tipton Tuesday.
Iowa Mennonite School 66, Louisa-Muscatine 38
Eli Ours led the way with 19 points and Trevor Leyden followed with 14 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division win. Jeremy Niemeyer doubled up with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
'This was a solid bounce-back effort after a tough night at Lone Tree Tuesday,” IMS coach Dwight Gingerich said. 'The ball moved well as we had 19 team assists, and defensively we took away the drive the second half and they did not shoot the ball well, which helped us out.”
IMS goes to 8-3 overall, 7-3 in conference play, and next plays Tuesday at Mediapolis. Mediapolis defeated IMS the first time through conference play by the score of 66-48.
Pekin 74, Columbus 35
Eric Valdez scored 19 in the North road loss.
Columbus plays at Wapello Tuesday.
WACO 47, West Burlington 34
The Warriors got the South Division road win behind Nik Coble's 20 rebounds and 12 points.
WACO is 10-3 overall, 6-3 in the South and plays Tuesday at home versus Cardinal.
