WEST BURLINGTON - The Southeastern Community College softball team received a power surge two years ago when it recruited 2019 Mt. Pleasant graduates Makayla Cam and Trinity Krabill. In Saturday's Game 1 win over Des Moines Area Community College, that surged powered the Blackhawks to a 2-1 win.
The former Panther duo combined for the only two RBIs of the game for SCC, a solo homerun in the third inning and a solo homerun in the sixth, one by each.
Cam, who started at second base, finished 1-for-2 on the day. Krabill played center field and ended the game 1-for-3.
In the second game on Saturday, DMACC won 11-3. Krabill went yard again, cashing in on her second solo homer of the day, and Cam brought home an RBI. The two teams split games on Sunday with SCC winning 7-4 in the first game, and DMACC taking Game 2, 8-3.
The SCC softball team is currently 11-4 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. Cam and Krabill are both in their sophomore seasons.
