The group of area golfers that travels eastern Iowa to play in outings to raise money for the American Cancer Society played its final event of the season on Tuesday at the Washington Golf and Country Club.
The golf outing was a four-man best shot tournament, and there was a tie for the low score between teams captained by Jim Lloyd and Gene Driscoll. Spot prizes were awarded to Larry Guy, Gene Zeck, Tim Trotman, Bud Dameron and Don Kline, while other team prizes were awarded at random. Ray Carter and Larry Bartlett were given gifts in appreciation for organizing and handicapping the 2012 outings.
Following the round of golf, the 59 participants enjoyed a lunch arranged by Becky Ridley.
Over 70 cancer booklets were sold this year, and that money, along with an additional $281 that was donated by the group, was turned over to the American Cancer Society. If you are interested in playing in the outings next year, contact Carter at (319) 653-3623. The 2013 outings will begin in late May.
