Liz Nichols and Cory Campbell both finished 4-5 with Nichols legging out a triple as one of 10 extra-base hits in the game for the Comets. Nichols also led the way with six runs batted in while Durflinger tallied five.
Sarah Greiner finished 3-5 with three RBI and Lindsay Moore was 2-3 with four runs scored.
Laci Moore was the winning pitcher throwing all five innings, giving up one run on five hits and striking out five.
Cardinal has a tough slate at the Ottumwa Classic today taking on Class 3A top-ranked Clear Creek-Amana and Class 4A fourth-ranked Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
IMS 13, Pekin 1
KALONA ? Effects from Pekin?s 9-8 loss at New London Wednesday may have been lingering as IMS blasted the Panthers 13-1 in three innings Thursday night.
Dominique Tolle drove in Cheyann Lankford to give Pekin a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the wheels fell off from there. Paige Jensen recorded the only other hit ? a second-inning single in the short three-inning game.
Pekin won a 6-5 game over IMS last week at home.
With no rest for the weary, Pekin is back at it early today with two games at the Ottumwa Classic.
