Cardinal-Pekin trap shooting team competes in Ottumwa

OTTUMWA — The Cardinal-Pekin Dust Devil Trap Shooting team competed in the Ottumwa Bulldogs Conference Shoot on Saturday, May 14. The varsity squad of Levi Coleman, Alex Dix, Johnathon Guiter, Kaylee House, and Arron Silvers came away ranked second; while the varsity squad of Luke Enloe, Kaden McBeth, Owen Rupe, Ian Silvers, and Stephen Troxel got fifth.
Individually, in women’s varsity, Kaylee House placed first with a score of 45 (22, 23). Kara Trenary finished 14th with 26 (16, 10) and Teya Ebert was 15th with 26 (14, 12).
In the men’s varsity, two team members placed in the top 10, with Johnathon Guiter placing fourth with 48 (24, 24) and Arron Silvers finishing sixth with 47 (25, 22). Finishing 11th with 47 (23, 24) was Luke Enloe. Ian Silvers took 14th with 46 (22, 24) and Alex Dix placed 16th with 45 (25, 20). Levi Coleman finished 22nd with 44 (20, 24), Owen Rupe was 24th with 44 (20, 24), and Stephen Troxel finished 29th with 42 (22, 20). Kaden McBeth finished 35th with 35 (17, 18) and Conner Yeoman was 38th with 31 (12, 19).
The team had two place in the top 10 in JV, Colton Zaputil placed second with a score of 48 (23, 25) and Korwin Brown finished ninth with 46 (22, 24). Brandt Latcham finished 16th with 39 (19, 20), Matthew Frueh was 19th with 39 (18, 21), and Will Adam finished 20th with 39 (18, 21). Camryn Clubb was 22nd with 37 (20, 17), Colton Adkison finished 30th with 34 (14, 20), and Broc Latcham was 36th with 29 (11, 18).
Team members shooting perfect rounds of 25 included Alex Dix, Arron Silvers, and Colton Zaputil.
The team traveled to Ottumwa last Thursday, May 19 to compete against Ottumwa in the Bulldogs Dual Shoot.
The Dust Devils came away with first place in the varsity level, intermediate advanced level, intermediate entry level, and had the top ladies overall. Arron Silvers, Johnny Guiter, and Wyatt Pruessner all tied for first in men’s overall and had a shoot off scheduled for Monday, May 23.
Members of the varsity first place squad were Kaylee House with 48 (23, 25), Arron Silvers with 48 (24, 24), Johnathon Guiter with 48 (25, 23), Alex Dix with 45 (22, 23), and Levi Coleman with 44 (22, 22). On the varsity squad that took third was Ian Silvers 46 (25, 21), Like Enloe 46 (23, 23), Stephen Troxel 41 (21, 20), Kaden McBeth 38 (17, 21), and Owen Rupe 34 (16, 18).
Team members that qualified for the 2022 State and National competitions are Alex Dix, Arron Silvers, Ian Silvers, Kaylee House, Johnny Guiter, Levi Coleman, Luke Enlow, Stephen Troxel, Colton Zaputil, and Korwin Brown. Qualifying for state were Owen Rupe, Kaden McBeth, and Teya Ebert. The state competition will take place in early June and the National competition is scheduled for July at the Cardinal Shooting Range in Ohio.
