ELDON - The Cardinal basketball teams played two instant classics against Danville on Friday night, going 1-1 on the day. The boys had the big win on the night, holding off the Bears 65-62. The girls were nipped by one point, 47-46.
The Comet boys won each of the first three quarters. Cardinal led 15-10 after the first quarter, 34-28 at halftime and 50-40 after three quarters. Danville stormed back in the final quarter, scoring 22 points in the last eight minutes, but the Comets clung on for the three-point win.
The Cardinal girls came just one shot away from knocking off Danville in the opening game of the doubleheader. Maddie Cloke scored over half of Cardinal's points, dropping 25 points in the loss.
