Cardinal sweeps Moravia

MORAVIA - The Cardinal basketball teams picked up a pair of wins in Moravia on Saturday in a nonconference doubleheader. The Comet girls scored a 29-22 comeback victory, their second win in as many nights, and the boys followed with a 75-64 win.

Cardinal's girls' team had to claw back from a four-point deficit to start the fourth quarter. Moravia led 10-6 after one period, 16-10 at halftime and 22-18 after three, but Cardinal shut Moravia out 11-0 in the fourth quarter to steal the victory.

The Comet boys shot out to a big lead in the first half. Cardinal led 19-12 at halftime, and put up a ridiculous 28 points in the second to lead 47-26 at halftime.

Moravia staged a minor comeback in the boys game, winning the third quarter 19-15, and the fourth 18-13, but it was too little too late, and Cardinal moved to 1-1 after two games.

Cardinal will be in New London tonight (Tuesday) for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division doubleheader.
