Cardinal takes 2nd-straight loss
Comets slide against Pella Christian, fall to 2-2 in district

ELDON — After winning their first five games of the season, the Cardinal Comets have now dropped two straight.
Cardinal fell victim to a tough No. 9 (1A) Pella Christian squad, dropping the district matchup 52-8.
Pella Christian led 7-0 after one quarter, 28-8 at halftime and 52-8 after three quarters. The final period went scoreless.
Cardinal’s lone touchdown came when Maddux Jones hit Blaine Bryant on a touchdown pass in the second quarter.
Jones went 19-for-33 passing the ball. He threw for 205 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Bryant caught seven balls for 85 yards and a score.
Griffin Greiner and Landon Becker each had 40 yards receiving. Ian Liles ran for 43.
Greiner ended the game with 12 tackles on defense, a team high. The Comets were unable to force any turnovers.
Cardinal is now 5-2 overall and 2-2 in Class 1A District 6. The Comets can clinch a playoff spot with a win on Friday against Pleasantville (3-4, 1-3).
