Cardinal softball picked up win number 13 on Wednesday night with a 7-5 victory over the Falcons of Wayne.
It was a back and forth affair between the two squads, but once the Comets got the lead, they never trailed again.
After two scoreless innings, the Comets and Falcons both opened up the scoring in the third inning.
Wayne put three on the board in the top half of the inning, while the Comets countered with four runs in the bottom of the frame.
From then on out, Cardinal staved off any hope of a comeback by Wayne.
The Comets went on to score one in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
Wayne scored a pair as well in the fifth to knot the game at 5-5, but Cardinal’s pair proved to be enough.
Kennedi Miller and Ava Ferrell each tallied two hits and two RBIs in the win. Brinlee Ostrander and Emma Becker did as well with Becker hitting one RBI.
Nicoa McClure and Cynthia Albert each had one hit with Albert tallying an RBI.
McClure took the win in the circle, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits and seven strikeouts.
The Comets now sit at 13-14 on the season and take on Centerville on Thursday.
