Cardinal, Van Buren rally for Wednesday wins
MOULTON ? Cardinal senior Tanner Chance struck out a career-high 16 batters and the Comets edged Moulton-Udell 10-9 in non-conference action Wednesday.

MOULTON ? Cardinal senior Tanner Chance struck out a career-high 16 batters and the Comets edged Moulton-Udell 10-9 in non-conference action Wednesday.
The Comets trailed 7-3 in the game before a seven-run sixth inning gave them the lead for good.
?It was a nice comeback and a nice win,? said Cardinal head coach Tom Hallgren.
Chance (1-1) took the mound for the second time this season and pitched the seven-inning complete game for his first win. Although Moulton-Udell scored nine runs, only four of them were charged to Chance, who also surrendered just three hits.
From the plate, Cardinal sophomore Brennon Elder went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI, and senior Ty Short went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Catcher Logan Thorne finished with two hits, including one double, while Conner McElderry and Dakota Showman also smacked one double each.
The Comets (3-2, 2-1 SEISC south) travel to Fort Madison to face Holy Trinity on Friday.
Laughlin pitches past Central Lee
DONNELLSON ? Van Buren sophomore Robby Laughlin allowed three hits over seven innings, and the Warriors rallied in the seventh inning for a 7-3 win over Central Lee Wednesday.
Ty Smith and Colin Weaver both went 2 for 4 from the plate as the Warriors broke a 3-all tie in the top of the seventh inning. Nic Giberson had three RBI.
The Warriors host IMS today.
