FHS alum and Iowa Central freshmen Dante Cingere spoke with The Ledger during last week's Keokuk game that drew many former Trojans to wander back into their old building.
Cingere is playing on the junior varsity basketball team for Iowa Central, a two-year school in Fort Dodge.
Q) Tell us about your experience so far.
Dante Cingere: It's a lot more individual as far as preparing yourself and team wise. You have to adapt to new players on your team after being thrown in with a bunch of kids who were the man on their team and you have to mush together and that can be one of the harder things to do.
Q) Are you still playing point?
A) We have a lot of point guards and just guards in general so we all switch in and out and it's just kind of whoever brings the ball up, but I consider myself and another guy on the team to be the two passing point guards.
Q) What's the plan to get to varsity and then after two years?
A) It definitely looks like I'll go somewhere after I'm done here and coach told me to just get a lot of playing time in on the junior varsity because we have eight returning sophomores so I can get more time playing down here,
Q) Still enjoying it?
A) Yes.
Q) What are you studying?
A) Business.
Q) Do you have a vision?
A) Since I've been up there on my own and cooking a lot, I might take some culinary courses but when I end my playing days I'm definitely looking to go into coaching.
Q) What's your specialty Chef Dante?
A) Chicken cutlets with fried pasta is my go-to right now.
