The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named its Players of the Year right before the conference tournament last weekend, and Iowa Wesleyan starter Morgan Christner took one of the top honors. Christner was named Pitcher of the Year in the conference in her first-ever SLIAC season.
The former New London star won 17 games this season with a 2.75 ERA and 184 strikeouts. She also had the best record of any pitcher in conference play, going 9-1 in the regular season.
Christner finished her junior year this season and will be one of a handful of talented Tigers expected back for another SLIAC run when the spring rolls back around in 2020.
A few other Tigers were given honors by the SLIAC. Christner was joined by Kayla Ford and Alex Eyman on the All-Conference teams. Lara Needham was named to the All-Sportsmanship team, and Ford was named to the All-tournament team.
